The first calendar week in 2015 is wrong. What can I do?

Please go to the App Store and download the latest update. That will fix the problem for all users. We also included a fresh new look for TimeStamps with this update.

When creating a report TimeStamps is terminated immediately, what can I do?

You have probably denied TimeStamps the use of the iPhone contacts. TimeStamps needs access, because it reads the e-mail address from the saved contact after the preparation of the report. To remedy this, go to Settings > Privacy > Contacts and give TimeStamps the necessary access rights.

How do I create a new timestamp?

Always on the big Enter button on the homepage.

What's the meaning of the buttons on the left?

These buttons set the type of the next timestamp - but they will not set a timestamp! The big button will pulsate in the color of the next type of timestamp to display that it awaits to be pressed. Only if it is pressed, a new timestamp is set.

Why does the big button always have a different color?

The color of the big button indicates what type of his next timestamps is.

  • Blue: Working time
  • Gray: End of work
  • Green: Break
  • Yellow: Official absence
  • Red: Medical visit

I have forgotten to book. Can I add a time stamp later?

Yes. There are two possibilities to do that:

  • First, you can expand an existing day by selecting the desired day, change to edit mode and tap the add button.
  • The other way is to tap the button on the timestamps tab and select any day and any time.

Can I modify a timestamp later?

Yes. Each timestamp may be edited. Navigate to the day that you want to change its contents. Then change into edit mode and select the timestamp, which you want to change.

I work overnight. Does TimeStamps work for me?

Yes. Make sure, however, to record breaks and the end of the working day correctly. After you have booked the end of the working day, TimeStamps sees the next stamp as the beginning of a new working day.

What does the main clock display when I tap on it?

The main clock display is able to show you the statistics of the current day: How long you have worked, taken a break, were officially absent or how long you have been to a doctor.

What are the small times under the main clock for?

In the main time clock display you will always get information for the current day. The time indicated on the left corresponds to your first appearance on your working place on this day. To the right of it you see your anticipated end of work time (default working time plus break time). If you're taking a break that's longer than your usual pause, this time moving backwards.

I do not break. Can TimeStamps still predict the end of work correct?

Yes, TimeStamps can handle this. Open the "Settings" tab. Under "Work and break length", a default work week can be defined. Now when you tap on "Monday", the appropriate settings page is opened. To disable the input of break time, press the corresponding button on the left. Repeat this for every day of the default week.

I am sick for a whole day. What can I do?

That's easy. Just open the current week (or the history), open the day you are or were sick. Tap the "Edit" button and now press the "Set as free Day" button. You can now select you were sick.

I want to set vacations and holidays, but cannot find it.

That's easy. Just open the current week (or the history), open the day you want to change into vacation or holiday. Tap the "Edit" button and now press the "Set as free Day" button. You can now select wether you were on vacation or holiday.

Can I enter a weekly working time of e.g. 41 hours?

Yes. You can enter a default working week with default working hours and breaks for each day. Or no breaks at all - just as you prefer.

I work on Saturday and Sunday, can TimeStamps handle this?

Yes. Please open the "Settings" tab. Under "Work and break length", a default work week can be defined. Now when you tap on "Saturday", the appropriate settings page is opened. To enable the input of work and break time, press the corresponding buttons on the left.

I do not work on Mondays. How do I change this?

Please open the "Settings" tab. Under "Work and break length", a default work week can be defined. Now when you tap on "Monday", the appropriate settings page is opened. To disable the input of work and break time, press the corresponding buttons on the left.

I cannot set work and break times in the default week on the weekend.

In the settings of "Work and Break Length" press the buttons for work and pause on the left. Then the dials to the right are active and you can adjust your times. If you press the corresponding button again, the dials are turned off again and the registered times, too.

Can I set the resolution for timestamp editing?

Yes. In the settings you can choose between different grids, with which you can book your timestamps manually.

Am I able to delete whole weeks?

Yes, but you cannot delete a whole week at once due to security concerns. You have to delete all days of a week, after that the week will also be deleted from the database.

What are tags and how can I use them?

In TimeStamps, tags can be used in many ways. You can create tags e.g. for work packages, projects or process steps. These can be assigned to any timestamp, on the iPhone 5 even directly on the home screen of TimeStamps. In addition, tags can also be distinguished in color.

How can I assign a tag to my bookings?

This is possible either directly from the home screen (currently exclusive to iPhone 5 users) or via the timestamp itself in edit mode. You may also change the tag of a timestamp in case you set it to the wrong tag.

I have no iPhone 5. Can I register tags at the start screen anyway?

Not yet. But the next update includes this function for older iPhones. Users that do not use tags, will do not notice this change. The user interface remains the same for them.

How can I evaluate the assigned tags?

That's easy. Just use an export via "HTML with Tags". A clear report is generated that represents the selected time period and lists all working hours and with their tags - both individually and cumulated.

I have got excel sheets with my working times. Can I import those somehow?

No. We have discussed this and at the moment, we do not have plans to work on an import function. Perhaps we will have a look into this in the future, but we can not promise anything.

I use an iPhone with jailbreak or other modifications. Does TimeStamps work anyway?

Actually TimeStamps should run. TimeStamps does not have copy protection that prevents this. Nevertheless, we cannot guarantee anything because a jailbreak is a deep intrusion into the operating system and thus can also cause instabilities. If TimeStamps behaves strangely or does not even start, remove the jailbreak.

Something is weird. What shall I do now?

Timestamps has been tested by us and independent testers before each release through its paces. If you still encounter an error, we are grateful for any bug report. Please use our support form at http://www.timestampsapp.com/en/contact.html.
